Nearly twenty-five thousand households in southeastern Queensland found themselves without power on Monday morning after powerful weather events swept through the region, generating wind gusts topping over 100 km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Widespread Destruction
Homeowners observed giant hailstones reaching sizes of 7cm in certain regions. Meteorological experts verified that various areas across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Response teams were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams deployed to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victorian Storm Challenges
At the same time, around one thousand households in Victoria also encountered energy failures after the capital city saw its wettest day in 18 months.
State Emergency Services handled 598 requests for assistance across the area, mostly for building damage but also for downed trees and inundation.
